Nanny payroll services by price: SurePayroll $39, Poppins $49, HomePay $59 and $75 a month, and what year one costs once the free months are counted

Last updated: 2026-10-03

The services below run payroll for a family that employs a nanny or other household worker. They are ordered by the monthly price each vendor prints on its own page for one employee. The tax arithmetic that sits behind the fee is in article-22 and is not repeated here.

Short version

What the monthly fee includes

These are the items each page lists as included, copied from the 2026-10-03 reading. Where an item is missing, read it as "the page does not say," not as "not included."

HomePay does not publish a setup fee or say whether there is an annual commitment. SurePayroll's $39 carries "limited-time offer" wording. When article-22 was written, this site recorded $39 as the promotional price and $45 as the list price; on 2026-10-03 the page showed only $39. The site's own changelog has the move from $45 to $39 on 2026-09-06.

Year one for a single employee

List price times twelve, minus whatever free month the page prints.

ServiceList, 12 monthsFree monthsYear one
SurePayroll Household$39 x 12 = $468None$468
Poppins Payroll$49 x 12 = $5881$49 x 11 = $539
HomePay Essentials$59 x 12 = $708None recorded$708
HomePay Plus$75 x 12 = $9001$75 x 11 = $825
GTM EasyPay$70 x 12 = $840 and upNone stated$840 and up

Poppins' free period is the first calendar month, so a family that starts mid-month gets the rest of that month, not thirty days. The table counts a full month free and eleven paid. In year two every service returns to list and the order is the same as in the first table.

Two employees in the house

Only the vendors that print a second-employee price can be worked out.

ServiceMonthly, 2 employeesList, 12 monthsYear one with the free month
Poppins Payroll$49 + $10 = $59$708$59 x 11 = $649
GTM EasyPay$70 + $20 = $90 and up$1,080 and up$1,080 and up

SurePayroll publishes nothing beyond "includes one employee," and this site's reading of HomePay's two plans records no second-employee figure. A family with two or more household employees would need to ask those two vendors, or compare on the printed Poppins and GTM numbers.

To try your own headcount, the calculator carries the business plans and SurePayroll's household plan (one employee, $39). Poppins and HomePay are not in the calculator's dataset.

Where business payroll software stops

Gusto does not run payroll for household employers and its help center refers families to Poppins, as article-22 notes. Whether the lowest-priced business plans, Patriot Basic at $17 + $4 or Square at $35 + $6, accept a household employer is not stated on their pricing pages, so they are left out of this table. The 1-to-4 employee ranking is a table of a different product.

Who this is not for

This is a price table, not a comparison of service quality. It copies the list prices and promotional terms printed by each vendor on 2026-10-03 (GTM: 2026-09-27) and leaves out quotes and state-specific charges (article-22 records that Poppins charges extra for some state registrations). The scope is US household employment. How Schedule H and the W-2 work is covered in article-22 and article-12. We have not used any of these services.
