NordLayer pricing: Lite, Core, Premium, the 5-user minimum and the $40 server

The numbers first

Which price is the page showing me?

nordlayer.com/pricing/ opens with the Yearly toggle selected. That view shows $8 / $11 / $14 with "SAVE 20%," "SAVE 21%" and "SAVE 22%" badges. Switch to Monthly and the cards change to $10 / $14 / $18.

Where a vendor prints both, this site uses the yearly figure in its tables (the rule is on the method page). So the $8.00 on d/nordlayer is a yearly-billing number, not what you pay on a contract you can cancel next month. Five people on Lite month to month is $10 x 5 = $50, which is 1.25 times the $40 on yearly billing, inside the 18% to 29% range article-08 found across vendors that print both.

The pricing page was re-read on 2026-10-02. The yearly figures, "5 users minimum" and "+$40/month" all matched the 2026-09-07 reading. The Monthly toggle is drawn by script and did not appear in the fetched text, so $10 / $14 / $18 and +$50 are as read in a browser on 2026-09-07.

What does the 5-user minimum do to a team of two?

NordLayer bills a floor of five seats, not a headcount. The $8 on the card cannot be divided by two.

PeopleSeats billedLite per monthPer person
15$40.00$40.00
25$40.00$20.00
35$40.00$13.33
55$40.00$8.00
1010$80.00$8.00

At five the card and the invoice agree. Below five, the fewer people you have, the more each one costs. The two-person comparison on this site (article-01) places NordLayer where it does because of this one line.

Why is Core $95 a month and not $55?

Five seats at Core's $11 come to $55. Under that card the page says "Server with Dedicated IP +$40/month required." Because it is required, this site adds the $40 to every month's total regardless of headcount.

$11.00 x 5 + $40.00 = $95.00. For five people that is $19.00 each. For two people it is the same $95.00 divided by two, $47.50, or 4.3 times the $11 on the card.

Premium works the same way: $14.00 x 5 + $40.00 = $110.00, which is $22.00 each at five and $55.00 each at two.

On the Monthly toggle the server line reads "+$50/month required." This site records $40 because its per-user figures are the yearly ones. If you pick monthly billing, five people on Core come to $14 x 5 + $50 = $120.

Every dedicated-IP and gateway charge on this site, with whether it is required or optional, is collected on dedicated-ip-cost. NordLayer's $40 is one of the four required charges among the nine listed there.

Where does the $40 stop mattering?

A fixed charge is divided by headcount, so it thins out as the team grows.

PeopleLiteCorePremium
2$20.00$47.50$55.00
5$8.00$19.00$22.00
10$8.00$15.00$18.00
25$8.00$12.60$15.60
50$8.00$11.80$14.80
100$8.00$11.40$14.40

Per person per month, yearly billing. Read 2026-09-07.

Core is $15.00 at ten people (1.4 times the card), $12.60 at twenty-five and $11.40 at a hundred. Spread across a hundred people the $40 is $0.40 each, so for a team that size the card price is close to the real one. Lite carries no fixed charge and stays at $8.00 from five people upward.

What do three years cost?

For ten people, monthly total times 36: Lite $2,880, Core $5,400, Premium $6,480. The $2,520 between Core and Lite breaks down as $1,440 for 36 months of the $40 server and $1,080 for the $3 per-seat difference across ten people and 36 months.

What does "From $6" mean on Enterprise?

On the Yearly toggle: "From $6 USER/ MONTH," "With Lite plan," "200 users minimum." On Monthly the card reads "From $10 USER/ MONTH" with the footnote "Applies to a yearly plan only," so no month-to-month Enterprise rate is published. The page adds: "The price may vary if a higher plan or additional features are selected."

A starting figure goes into none of this site's rankings. If you are getting a quote for 200 people, $6 is the floor the vendor names, not the number you will be billed.

How does NordLayer line up against the others?

Among the ZTNA plans this site holds, a few at ten people on yearly billing: Firezone Team $4.16, Twingate Teams $5.00, Cloudflare One Pay-as-you-go $7.00, GoodAccess Essential $7.00, NordLayer Lite $8.00 (read 2026-09-07; Twingate and Cloudflare 2026-10-02). The two-, ten- and fifty-person comparison with Twingate is at vs/nordlayer-vs-twingate, and the cost-ranked alternatives are at alt/nordlayer-alternatives. For the vendor with a 2-user minimum instead of 5, Proton VPN for Business, see article-48.

Who this is not for

This is about price only. It says nothing about NordLayer's features, speed or support, and we have not used it. It answers two questions: what a team under five pays per person, and at what headcount Core's $40 fades into the per-seat price.
