GoodAccess pricing: $7 and $11, a 5-user minimum and the optional $49 gateway

What the page says

Why one person pays $35

The minimum is 5 users, so billing starts at five seats whether or not five people exist. One person on Essential is $7 x 5 = $35 a month. Split between two it is $17.50 each; between three, $11.67. Only at the fifth person does the figure reach the printed $7, and from the sixth on each hire adds exactly $7 with no change to the per-person number.

Premium walks the same stairs at $55, $27.50, $18.33 and $11.

Team sizeEssential ($7)Premium ($11)Seats billed
1$35.00$55.005
2$17.50$27.505
3$11.67$18.335
5$7.00$11.005
10$7.00 ($70 a month)$11.00 ($110 a month)10
50$7.00 ($350 a month)$11.00 ($550 a month)50

Three years for ten people: $70 x 36 = $2,520 on Essential, $110 x 36 = $3,960 on Premium.

GoodAccess is not alone in charging small teams the most per head. Every plan on this site with a minimum behaves this way, which article-06 lays out, and the five-person teams that just clear the minimum are compared at 5-users.

What the $4 between Essential and Premium buys

The feature table on the pricing page gives Essential basic platform management and device support, "Secure Web Gateway Lite" threat blocking and gateway access logs. It does not include SSO, device posture checks or network segmentation.

Premium adds "Zero Trust Access Control (Cloud FWaaS)", an unlimited "Device Posture Check", single sign-on with multiple identity providers, "Custom Domain Blocking (Filtering)", "Time-Based Permissions (PIM/PAM)", system access logs and advanced compliance logging, "SIEM Integration", device approval with geo-restriction, and a dedicated account manager.

Enterprise is everything in Premium plus custom work and "24/7" phone support, from 50 users. No price is published.

What the $49 gateway does to the bill

A dedicated gateway is $49 a month per gateway, listed on all three plans as an optional add-on. Because it is optional, it is not in this site's per-user tables, but if you need one the arithmetic is a fixed charge divided by headcount.

Five people on Essential with one gateway: $35 + $49 = $84, or $16.80 each. Ten people: $70 + $49 = $119, or $11.90. Fifty: $350 + $49 = $399, or $7.98. Ten on Premium: $110 + $49 = $159, or $15.90.

For a two-person team, one gateway turns $35 into $84, or $42 a head. The gateway costs the same at every size; only the number of people sharing it changes. The dedicated-ip-cost page lines this $49 up against every other vendor's IP and gateway charge, required or optional, at $4.90 per person for ten. For a ten-person scenario that works through all the non-seat charges on this site, see article-60.

Monthly against yearly

Essential is $9 against $7, a 29% premium for monthly billing; Premium is $14 against $11, or 27%. Both sit near the top of the 18% to 29% band this site measured across vendors in article-08. One person on monthly Essential pays $9 x 5 = $45, ten dollars more a month than the yearly $35.

What the trial settles

Fourteen days, no card. Whether the trial caps users or features is not stated on the pricing page as read, so it goes on the list of questions to ask before paying.

Who this is not for

A team of four or fewer pays for five. Above 50 people, where Enterprise begins, the pricing page gives no number.
