The per-person figure never gets back to the printed $6. A 5-user minimum and a $5-a-month cloud gateway are always in the bill: $6.50 at ten people, $6.10 at the 50-user cap. Billing is monthly only; no yearly price is on the page. The pricing page could not be opened from this site on 2026-10-02 (HTTP 403), so every figure here is the reading of 2026-09-08.

The three steps from $6 to $17.50

  1. The minimum is 5 users. Two people are billed for five seats: $6 x 5 = $30.
  2. An Access Gateway plan needs a gateway. A cloud gateway carries a "Minimum Gateway Cost" of $5 a month. $30 + $5 = $35.
  3. Divide $35 by the two people who exist. $17.50.

One person carries the whole $35. At five people, seats billed and headcount finally match and the figure is $7.00; the dollar above the printed $6 is the $5 gateway spread across five. It thins to $0.50 a head at ten and $0.10 at fifty, and never reaches zero.

How this site treats minimums and fixed charges is set out at method. UTunnel is one example of a pattern that runs through every plan with a minimum: the smaller the team, the higher the per-person cost (article-06).

Is the $5 gateway really required?

The evidence is the vendor's own Access Gateway Pricing Calculator, operated on 2026-09-08. With Gateway Type set to Cloud and 5 users, it shows "$5.00 Minimum Gateway Cost /Month" above "$30.00" of user licenses and "Total $35.00 /Month". Switch Gateway Type to On-Premise and the gateway line reads "$0.00", for a total of $30.00.

This site records the $5 as a required fixed charge because an Access Gateway plan cannot run without a gateway and the vendor's calculator defaults to Cloud. Bring your own server (BYOS) and the $5 disappears, replaced by whatever that server costs you. Two people on BYOS Basic: $30 / 2 = $15.

The $5 does not scale with people. One gateway is $5 at five users and $5 at fifty. On the dedicated-ip-cost page, which converts every vendor's gateway and IP charge to a per-person figure, UTunnel's $5 works out at $0.50 for ten people, the smallest required fixed charge in that list.

Basic or Standard: what the $2 buys

The feature difference recorded in the dataset: Basic ($6) covers cloud VPN deployment, BYOS support, a static IP, two-factor authentication and 30 days of logs. Standard ($8) adds site-to-site connectivity, split tunneling, SSO and SCIM, and 90 days of logs.

Ten people are $65 on Basic and $85 on Standard. Over three years, $2,340 and $3,060.

The ceiling at 50

Both plans are "minimum 5, maximum 50 users". The 51st person moves the account to Custom, which the page describes as "50+ users", all features and help from a solution architect, priced by quote. That is why UTunnel is absent from this site's 100-user tables.

Is there a yearly discount?

The page prints monthly prices only, and no yearly rate could be recorded. This site's rule of using the yearly price where both are printed cannot apply here, so $6 and $8 stand as monthly-billing figures. Where other vendors print both, monthly runs 18% to 29% higher; UTunnel is outside that comparison.

Who this is not for

Four people or fewer pay for five seats plus the $5. Fifty-one or more are a quote. A budget that assumes a yearly discount will not find one on this pricing page.
