Can you pay Remote less than $699 a month, and what's the catch?

Summary

Yes, but only through a signed Order Form, and that contract can come with a minimum spend. Remote's standard EOR price is $699 per employee per month, and it is the only number on its current pricing page. If an Order Form sets a minimum contract value and your year falls short, Remote bills the gap as a true-up invoice.

$699 is the published price

Remote's support center calls $699 per employee per month its "standard price for EOR services," billed monthly on active usage. The pricing page and the current EOR product page show that figure and nothing else. There is no annual toggle.

A second EOR page is still live on Remote's site, and it says "$599 per month when paid annually, or $699 when paid monthly." The current pages do not repeat that offer. Treat $599 as something to ask for, not something to budget on.

Where discounts come from

The same support article describes two ways to buy. Pay-as-you-go is billed monthly on what you use. An Order Form, which Remote describes as the official contract, "can include committed arrangements and may include discounts."

The commitment has a name: minimum contract value. Remote's true-up article gives its own example. Commit to $100,000 for the contract year, spend $85,000, and you receive a true-up invoice for $15,000. At $699 a month, one employee costs $8,388 a year in fees, so that shortfall is close to two employee-years of service you paid for and did not use.

Three details make the minimum stricter than it looks:

• Only Remote's service fees count toward it. Salaries of EOR employees and payments to contractors pass through Remote and do not.
• Ending the contract early does not cancel the true-up.
• A year with no usage at all still triggers one.

If your hiring plan could slip by a quarter, the minimum matters more than the discount rate.

The exchange rate on your invoice

When a payslip is in a different currency from your billing currency, Remote converts each line at the "Remote FX Rate." Remote says the rate varies month to month with transaction volume, the volatility of the currency pair, and the cost and risk of holding foreign currency. It does not publish a markup.

Deposits are the exception

Remote's pricing page says it collects reserve payments "in rare, high risk circumstances." It then names what other providers charge extra deposits for: leave above the legal minimum, removing probation, incentive plans, and monthly severance accruals. "We don't." Deel, for comparison, asks for a two-month deposit just to drop a probation period.

Remote also says it owns and operates all of its entities with "no handoffs to third-parties," and that it offers "unlimited indemnity to EOR customers." Both are Remote's own claims. How the indemnity works in a dispute depends on the contract you sign.
