Business VPN cost for 50 users: once minimums stop mattering, fixed charges are what is left
Short version
- Nineteen paid plans priced in US dollars fit a team of 50. They run from $4.16 a person (Firezone Team) to $18.00 (Tailscale Premium), with a middle figure of $8.00.
- As a bill: $208 to $900 a month, $7,488 to $32,400 over three years (monthly x 36). Top to bottom of the table is $24,912 apart over three years.
- The largest minimum anyone here bills is 5 users (GoodAccess, NordLayer, UTunnel), so at 50 nobody pays for an empty seat.
- Four plans cost more than the figure printed on their page, and every one of the four is a fixed charge: NordLayer's $40 Server with Dedicated IP works out at $0.80 a person, UTunnel's $5 cloud gateway at $0.10.
- Fifty is also an edge. UTunnel Basic and Standard stop at 50, GoodAccess Enterprise starts its quote at 50, and Twingate Teams stays on the table until 100.
The table at 50
Same rule as the 25-user page: the annual per-user rate where the vendor prints one, the monthly rate where it does not. Zero-trust and business VPN plans share one table because they are bought for the same job. Read 2026-09-07 (UTunnel 2026-09-08; Twingate and Cloudflare 2026-10-02).

Euros are a separate table. NetBird Team at €6 is €300 a month for 50 and €10,800 over three years; Business at €12 is €600 and €21,600. Nothing is converted, so neither sits in the ranking above.
Eighty cents and ten cents
For a team of two, 8 of these 19 plans cost more than the printed rate (the 10-user page tabulates it by size). At 50, four do. What disappeared was the minimum; what is left is the fixed charge.
- NordLayer Core: $11 x 50 + $40 = $590, or $11.80 a person. 1.07 times the printed rate.
- NordLayer Premium: $14 x 50 + $40 = $740, or $14.80.
- UTunnel Basic: $6 x 50 + $5 = $305, or $6.10. 1.02 times.
- UTunnel Standard: $8 x 50 + $5 = $405, or $8.10.
The same $40 is $20.00 a head for two people, $4.00 for ten, $0.80 for fifty and $0.40 for a hundred. It is the only line on the bill that gets divided by headcount, and by 50 it has almost stopped showing. Of the $3.80 between NordLayer Core and Lite at this size, $3.00 is the plan and $0.80 is the server. UTunnel's gateway goes to $0.00 if you bring your own server (On-Premise), which puts Basic and Standard back at their printed $6.00 and $8.00.
What starts at 50, and what ends there
- UTunnel VPN's Basic and Standard are "minimum 5, maximum 50 users." Fifty is the last size at which those two rows exist; user 51 moves you to Custom (50+, quote).
- GoodAccess Enterprise is "minimum 50 users" at a price "On Request." At 50, the printed $7 and $11 and the door to a quote open at the same time. The page keeps the "+$49/mo per dedicated gateway" line on Enterprise too.
- Twingate Teams runs to 100, so it stays at $5.00 here.
- NordLayer Enterprise is "From $6" with a 200-user minimum, which has nothing to say to a team of 50.
- Firezone Team and Twingate Business both run to 500.
Tiered rates that are not in the ranking
ExpressVPN for Teams and PureVPN Business print a rate per seat band. Because those are band prices ("from" prices), this site keeps them out of its rankings, but the 50-seat figures are readable.
- ExpressVPN for Teams, 50+ licenses: $3.12 per license per month on a 12-month term, so 50 x $3.12 = $156 a month. On a 1-month term, $6.50 and $325. The 2-year rate of $2.04 is a term this site does not compare.
- PureVPN Business Starter, 11 to 100 seats: $6 per seat per month on annual billing, 50 x $6 = $300 a month. Monthly billing is $8 for 11 to 50 seats, $400 a month.
The $156 is below the $208 at the top of the table. ExpressVPN's page is also the only one that says "before VAT or sales tax," so whether the others are on the same footing cannot be read. Article-61 reads the same tier tables at 100.
Optional charges divided by 50
Fixed charges the pages print but do not require, spread over 50 people.

PureVPN's static IP is the one that does not thin out. A per-member charge is $5.99 a member at 50 exactly as it was at 5. The dedicated-IP page covers the whole set.

Firezone and Twingate Teams are $42 a month apart, $1,512 over three years. Cheapest to middle is about $7,000 over three years; middle to top about $18,000. At 50 people, one dollar on the per-user rate is $1,800 over three years.

Who this is not for
Nothing here says which product suits a team of 50. The table is every plan this site could compute at that size, cheapest first; features and how each is run are outside what this site records. If you already hold a quote, the printed rates are background for a negotiation rather than a shortlist.
