Playroll's EOR is $399 with a deposit of about a month's salary. Is it the mid-priced provider that tells you the most up front?
Summary
Summary
Of the two at $399, yes. Playroll's pricing page settles four things before you ask: EOR from $399 a month, no minimum commitments, a refundable security deposit of about one month's salary, and contractor management at a flat $35 a month regardless of headcount. Pebl, at the same $399, states neither a deposit nor a contractor price. What Playroll does not say: what raises the $399, whose entity employs the person, the billing currency, and whether it needs notice before an offboarding. Because the deposit is named, the signing month's cash can be worked out before the quote.
The four things the page answers
| Playroll | |
|---|---|
| EOR | From $399 per employee per month, monthly |
| Minimum commitment | None |
| Deposit | Refundable, about one month's salary |
| Contractor management | Flat $35 a month, any headcount |
Of the providers this site has read, only Playroll and Oyster ("normally one month") put a figure on the deposit. Deel's is "from one to one and a half months of all charges," with the ceiling depending on the contract. RemoFirst, Skuad, G-P, Pebl and Native Teams say nothing.
The signing month
With a deposit of one month's salary, the signing month costs salary plus statutory cost plus $399 plus another month's salary.
A €60,000 hire in Germany: €5,000 of salary and €1,065 of statutory cost each month, €6,065, plus a €5,000 deposit and the $399 fee. Month one is €11,065 plus $399; month two onward, €6,065 plus $399.
A $90,000 hire in the United States: $7,500 of salary, $577 of statutory cost, $399, and a $7,500 deposit, $15,976 in the first month and $8,476 from the second.
How far "about" stretches is not on the page. Have the quote state the amount.
The $35 contractor line
A flat fee independent of headcount is unique to Playroll among the fourteen. For one contractor it is in the same band as Deel's $49 and Remote's $29; for five it is $7 each, for twenty $1.75. On a contractor-heavy team this line matters before the $399 does.
It is management only. A product where Playroll carries the contractor's engagement (contractor or agent of record) has no price on the page.
The year
Fees: $4,788 if the price holds at $399, which is $2,400 under Deel's $7,188 and $2,400 over RemoFirst's $2,388, exactly between them.
| US salary | Statutory employer cost | Playroll fee, year | Share | Deposit, first month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $30,000 | $2,337 | $4,788 | 16.0% | $2,500 |
| $90,000 | $6,927 | $4,788 | 5.3% | $7,500 |
The deposit comes back, so it is not a cost of the year; it is cash of the year.
